Specialist Disability Housing Options in Logan City
September 11, 2023
When it comes to disability living support, it can be quite tricky to navigate each option. From SDA to
SIL, let’s unpack what each offering is and what’s possible in Logan.
Specialist Disability Housing (SDA)
Specialist Disability Housing (SDA) is designed for NDIS participants with very high support needs, meaning you may find everyday tasks difficult to complete on your own like showering and moving around.
SDA homes are built with accessibility in mind and may include built-in features like assistive technology or home automation to make living easier. SDA usually involves a shared home with other NDIS participants and the funding doesn’t include services or support.
Supported Independent Living (SIL)
Another disability living support is Supported Independent Living (SIL). This in-home support can be delivered either in a current home or in one of our vacancies. This support is different from SDA as the aim here is to live as independently as possible while helping build skills like cooking and cleaning.
The NDIS does include help or supervision with daily tasks for SIL however, the funding can’t be used for everyday expenses like groceries. SIL is also best suited to those who have high needs and need some level of help at home all the time (including overnight).

Furniture and bills
At Aspire Hub we’re always happy to help. From decorating your room to helping manage the bills. Generally, we’ll charge 70 percent of your Disability Support Pension (DSP) to cover rent, food, and utilities like power, gas, and water, so you won’t have the added pressure of paying bills each week.
Most of our homes are partly furnished, however, you will need to bring your own bedroom furniture. We’ll let you know if you need to bring anything else for your home. Before we find you a home, we’ll see what’s included in your current NDIS plan. If you need more funding or need help accessing or reading your plan, reach out to us here.
