Achieve your goals with ILO in Perth
February 12, 2024
What is ILO?
Independent Living Options (ILO) are supports to help you live in your preferred home environment, whether it’s a chosen home or in a shared home with housemates. Generally, Individual Living Options (ILO) is suited for individuals who require at least six hours of support or assistance at home, each day, this depends on their NDIS plan and individual needs.
Unlike Supported Independent Living (SIL), which provides a higher level of support for individuals who require assistance day-to-day, Independent Living is recommended for those who do not require overnight support but still desire an inclusive and accessible home.
It’s important to note that this type of funding, does not cover housing costs or home modifications, nor does it provide support for activities outside of the home such as work, study, sports, or social outings. However, we‘re happy to assist you in finding the right support to suit your needs.
How do I know if it’s right for me?
According to the NDIS, Individualised Living Options might be suitable for you, if you meet the following criteria:
– You’re 18 years or older, or you’re 17 and considering your future living arrangements.
– You require support at home, whether it’s formal or informal, for a minimum of 6 hours each day.
– You’re ready to explore your future home and living needs, as well as the available options.
– You’re willing to invest time and effort into creating your future home.
If eligible, the NDIS will ensure your supports meet the funding criteria, before creating and funding a plan.
How can I achieve goals with this new living option?
At Aspire Hub, we’re all about helping you tick off your own goals. Through individual support, participants have the freedom and autonomy to make their own choices and decisions about their daily lives.
This new living option empowers individuals to take control of their own lives. By living independently, individuals can develop essential life skills, from cleaning and maintaining a household to making decisions day-to day. Whether you choose to live with housemates, or mentors or live alone, with the right supports in place, independent living encourages participants to set and work towards their personal goals.
Depending on your needs and goals, ILO can include support for personal care, assistance in developing your skills or support with household tasks like cooking and shopping.
